In "Parade Ring," owners, trainers, and jockeys converge in a tight circle of last-minute instructions and rising excitement. This is both a working arena and a social stage, where status is on quiet display in the cut of a coat, the shine of a horse, the confidence of a handshake. I watch as jockeys receive brisk, final words, then swing into the saddle, the horses circling with nervous energy. When the loudspeaker finally crackles - "The horses are about to leave the parade ring" — the whole scene tilts from talk to action, and I feel how this charged moment links all the private knowledge Matt has shown me to the public drama about to unfold on the track.
All my images are digital collage. Each image begins as a gathering — fragments of found imagery, textures, painted and drawn elements, and at times AI-assisted material. These are raw components. I dismantle, rework, paint into and rebuild, then layer digitally until they resolve into something entirely new. The final image is not generated. It is composed.
They are printed on German Etching Archival Hahnemühle 320gsm paper, with archival pigments. Each print is signed and numbered with a certificate of authenticity.
